'Bengal is burning & Mamata is doing politics in New Delhi'

Kolkata/New Delhi: The BJP on Wednesday hit out at TMC supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over incidents of violence during Ram Navami processions in West Bengal, saying while her state was "burning", she was "doing politics" in the national capital.

Peaceful Ram Navami processions were attacked by Trinamool Congress (TMC) "thugs" in the state, senior BJP leader Prakash Javadekar told reporters. "Bengal is burning and Mamata is doing politics in Delhi. It is like Nero fiddled while Rome was burning," he said showing alleged pictures of the violence that took place during the processions.

"While Raniganj cuts and bleeds in the grip of chaotic violence, Mamata Government sits quietly and watches all hell breaking loose here,

'' union minister and Asansol MP Babul Supriyo tweeted, while asking the 'Ma, Mati, Manush' government, are these places not your mati and these people not manush? #MamataGoesMissing".

Raniganj falls under Asansol Parliamentary segment. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP won only two seats in West Bengal -Asansol and Darjeeling.

Earlier, the BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya slammed West Bengal Government for its alleged inept handling of the situation in Raniganj area.

"Raniganj in Bengal is gripped in a never-ending cycle of violence. Media is silent and so is the West Bengal administration," he tweeted. The BJP leader was also critical of the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee getting busy with her "politicking in Delhi".

"Mamata Banerjee is busy politicking in Delhi while police officers, let alone ordinary citizens, are struggling to save their life and limb," Malviya wrote on the micro-blogging site. -Agencies
